KARACHI: High alert declared till Eid

KARACHI, Oct 30: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui has said that security high alert had been declared by imposing Section 144 in all major cities of Sindh till Eid.

He was talking to newsmen at Jinnah Ground on Sunday at the aid programme arranged by Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation for distribution of consumable goods among the poor.

The minister said that he had issued strict orders to the concerned police officials to render their services with due responsibility.

Regarding the change of CCPO, Rauf Siddiqui said that he had the same knowledge about the fact as the press had. He said this question should be put to the Establishment Division in Islamabad.

Issuing directives to Sindh Police, he said that strict watch should be kept at public places and markets where large number of people gathered during Eid season. He called upon the people to lend full cooperation to the law enforcing agencies for maintenance of law and order and foil the nefarious designs of anti-social elements.

It is pertinent here to mention that the imposition of Section 144 also prohibits exhibition of arms and ammunition. —APP
