KARACHI, Oct 29: Hyderabad strengthened their grip over Islamabad in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League fixture by striking twice in the visitors’ second innings on the second day of the four-day match at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Having conceded a 53-run lead on the first innings, Islamabad lost Atif Ashraf (0) and Raheel Majeed (21) in reaching 36 for two at stumps.
Earlier, Hyderabad owed their total of 264 to a fine knock by Shahid Qambrani, the former Pakistan under-19 who was unlucky to be dismissed for 99.
Shahid, who struck 11 boundaries during his 162-ball innings in a stay of 234 minutes, was involved on a vital fourth-wicket of 89 with Rizwan Ahmed (56 with seven fours).
The right-handed Shahid then found another useful partner in Shoaib Leghari (41) who helped him add 96 after Hyderabad in dire straits at 132 for seven.
