LAHORE, Oct 29: Pakistan cricket team captain Inzamamul Haq has said that the team announced for two Test matches against England was a balanced one and would deliver. Talking to reporters at the Qadhafi Stadium, Inzamam disclosed that all decisions relating to selections were taken with his and coach Woolmer’s consent.
He explained that the team included three specialist spinners and a good number of fast bowlers as Pakistan were equipped with all kind of bowling and there was no worry about any type of pitches being prepared for the series.
“We have good spinners for spin wickets and fast bowlers for fast track so Pakistan is strong in this department,” he said.
He said that he was not considering Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi as spinners because they were all-rounder.
Three specialist spinners are Mushtaq Ahmad, Danish Kaneria and Arshad Khan.
The first Test of the three match series will start from Nov 12 in Multan. Inzamam did not agree about the shortage of opening batsmen in the team adding Shoaib Malik had already acted as opener in international matches and there was nothing to worry about it.
“Malik is a dependable batsman and he also proved it in the four day trial match and against Australia A,” the captain said.
Inzamam said that Pakistan team would also donate their entire match fees of the Multan Test for the earthquake relief fund.
Besides, it he said that the cricketers would also build 100 houses in different affected areas. The numbers of houses would be raised further, he said.
While reverting from their previous announcement the national team skipper said the players had decided to donate their 5 to 10 percent match-fee for the President’s Relief Fund for one year instead of till their retirement.
