Bowlers hold sway over batsmen

LAHORE, Oct 29: Bowlers held upper-hand over the batsmen as 17 wickets fell on the second day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League match between Lahore Shalimar and Peshawar at the LCCA Ground on Saturday with the home team in the driving seat.

Lahore Shalimar, who resumed their first innings at 224-9, were all out after adding one run.

Skipper Junaid Zia and Fahad Masood then sent Peshawar, the defending champions, crashing to 81 all out while giving Lahore Shalimar a substantial first-innings advantage of 144 runs. Junaid grabbed five for 27 and Fahad took four for 39.

Then it was the turn of the Peshawar’s bowlers to hit back as Lahore Shalimar lost six wickets for 77 runs in the second innings with ex-Test paceman Fazle Akbar taking three for 26.

However, despite this collapse Lahore Shalimar have an overall lead of 221 with four wickets in hand.
