SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 29: A proclaimed offender was shot dead in a brief encounter near Dera Thatha Rehman Shah in Nankana district, some 90kms from here on Saturday. Syedwala police was tipped-off that PO Khalid alias Khalu and his accomplices of the Nazro Ghur Sawar gang were present in Dera Thatha Rehman Shah village. A police party led by DSP Amir Nawaz Khan conducted a raid and besieged the hideout of criminals. On seeing the police, POs opened fire which was returned. As a result, Khalid Alias Khalu died on the spot while his four accomplices beat a retreat. DPO Tahir Alam Khan said the deceased PO and his accomplices were involved in killing Syedwala SHO Saeed Chaudhry a few days back.
