Four killed as bandits attack village
NAUSHARO FEROZE, Oct 29: Four people were killed and two others were injured in an encounter between villagers and bandits in the Padidan police area on Saturday. Bandits Waris Chandio, Rahat Chandio, Moor Chandio and three others attacked the Murad Pahore village and tried to kidnap a girl.
When they stormed the house of Singhar Chandio and Karim Bux Chandio, the inmates resisted and exchanged fire with the assailants.
As a result, two villagers Singhar and Karim Bux and two bandits Waris and Rahat were killed.
Whereas one of the assailants Moor Chandio was seriously injured and admitted to a Nawabshah hospital.
A villager Rahim Bux Chandio was also injured who was admitted to a Naushahro Feroze hospital.
In-charge DPO Khalid Mustafa Korai told Dawn that the bandits attacked the house of Singhar Chandio on Friday night.
As a result, Karim Bux Chandio was seriously injured and was taken by relatives to the Nawabshah civil hospital where he died.
The DPO said that villagers informed the police on Saturday morning and told that the dacoits were present near the village.
The DPO claimed that he along with a heavy police contingent surrounded the dacoits.
Mr Korai claimed that bandits Waris Chandio and Rahib Chandio were killed and Moor Chandio was seriously injured in encounter with police and villagers who actually accompanied the police.
He said that villager Singhar was also killed in the encounter.
The DPO said one SMG, one rifle and one gun were recovered from the bandits.
Mr Korai said the bandits attacked the house of Singhar to kidnap a girl whose marriage proposal was denied to the accused.
He said that bandit Rahib Chandio carried a head money of Rs500,000.
Our Nawabshah Correspondent adds: Police arrested three Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz activists on Friday.
The JSQM district president Hashim Leghari, Sarwar Aarejo and Dr Sham said that A-section police arrested Shahid, vice president of Nawabshah taluka, Qasim, taluka treasurer and Gul Dahri, press secretary city and arrested them.
They alleged that police were torturing them as they were kept at an undisclosed place.
They warned of protest if JSQM activists were not released till Saturday.
When contacted, SHO A-section Ghulam Nabi Kharal denied their arrests.
