KARACHI: Rs2.5 million snatched at gunpoint in Mithadar

KARACHI, Oct 29: Robbers deprived a man and his son of Rs2.5 million at gunpoint in Mithadar police limits here on Saturday. Police said Mohammad Yusuf and his son Akbar had withdrawn Rs3.5 million from a bank branch on I.I. Chundrigar Road.
As they reached the Campbell Street, they were intercepted by three motorcyclists. As the armed men demanded money. Mohammad Yusuf gave a packet, comprising Rs2.5 million, but put up resistance.
The bandits shot him, snatched the packet, and fled, leaving the second packet containing Rs one million.
The injured was taken to Civil Hospital. The police have registered a case.
In another robbery incident, three bandits stormed into a post office at the Metropole, and snatched Rs133,000 from the staff.
The official of the post office Mohammad Alam got a case (FIR 135/05) registered at Artillery Maidan police station.
ARRESTS: Police arrested five suspects in Nazimabad here on Saturday for their links with a banned militant outfit.
Police said that Arif, Khurram, Ismail, Azam, and Haleem, were collecting donation in the name of earthquake victims in Gole Market, Nazimabad. Police said all the five belonged to Al-Rehmat Trust, an offshoot of the banned Jaish-i-Mohammad.
Police said that the suspects were booked under the Anti-Terrorism Act as they were the members of the banned organization.
