KARACHI: IO records statement in attack case

KARACHI, Oct 29: Prosecution rested before an anti-terrorism court in Karachi on Saturday, conducting trial against two activists of the Jundullah in Rangers van attack case, after cross-examination of the investigation officer.

Ataur Rehman and Shahzad Ahmed Bajwa are charged with attacking ranger’s mobile van in Ferozabad area Karachi on March 19, 2004. The accused denied the charges.

Defence counsel M.R Syed concluded cross-examination of police inspector Mohammad Riaz, who conducted investigation of the case.

After the cross-examination of the witness, the defence counsel suggested that the defendants were falsely charge-sheeted by the police and the prosecution had failed to prove its case against his clients.

The anti-terrorism court, headed by Judge Feroz Mehmood Bhatti, after hearing both sides fixed November 15 for recording the statement of the accused.—PPI
