RAWALPINDI, Oct 28: The city administration has stopped construction of highrise buildings. Steps have been taken to stop construction of multi-storey buildings and commercial plazas in the city on the instructions of Rawal Town Nazim Sheikh Rashid Shafique, Malik Mukhtar, the town municipal officer told an official meeting of civic agencies here on Friday.

He directed officials to visit city areas and stop the activities of construction of highrise buildings.

He appealed to the people to cooperate with the authorities for this purpose.

Mr Mukhtar said all resources would be put to use for the development of the city and urged municipal officials to improve their efficiency.

After Eid a special campaign would be launched to keep the city clean and improve the sanitation system, he added.
