SUKKUR, Oct 28: Incidents of robbery, motorcycle theft and looting of passenger buses have become a daily routine, making the National Highway insecure.
The area between Sangi and Pano Akil has become risky and Karachi-bound passenger buses coming from Peshawar are looted almost regularly depriving passengers of valuables. In certain cases passengers are beaten up if they resist the bandits.
Most of the incidents take place in the jurisdiction of “A” and “B” section police stations.
In this connection the small traders, on a number of occasions, have pinpointed the incidents complaining that the SHOs posted on political basis were responsible for the increased incidents of robberies.
The president of the Sukkur Small Traders Association, Haji Haroon Memon, has alleged that the SHOs were reluctant to register FIRs of these incidents and in most cases complaints of robbery were converted into theft. He demanded of the IGP Sindh to take notice of the incidents.
