KARACHI: Over 22 camps working in Muzaffarabad: Edhi office
KARACHI, Oct 28: At the moment more than 22 medical camps are functioning in Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir. This was stated by a spokesman of Edhi head office on Friday. He said that apart from Edhi medical camp, there are medical camps from Pakistan Army, Turkey, the USA, France, Russia, Germany, the Pakistan Medical Association and other NGOs.
The total capacity of accommodating patients at all these medical camps was 7,300 with the facility of minor operations, he said, adding that the medical camp set up by the United States recently has the latest medical equipment.
The spokesman pointed out that the carrying and shifting of 90 per cent of the patients was being done through Edhi ambulances.
In Mansehra, he said, there were two medical camps of Edhi Foundation. Besides, there were medical camps set up by the government, Pakistan Army, the KBDO. At six of the medical camps, medicines, blankets and food ration was being provided by the Edhi Foundation, he added.
Apart from OPD, the capacity of accommodating patients at these camps was 4,500 whereas Edhi ambulances were shifting 40 per cent of the patients.
In Balakot, apart from four foreign medical camps of Edhi Foundation, seven medical camps of Pakistan Army and the NGOs were working with the total capacity of accommodating 3,000 patients. In Bagh, as many as eight medical teams were working, he added.
The spokesman also pointed out that the injured brought from far flung areas to Edhi Relief Camp at Chokothi were being shifted to the treatment centres. Some 18 truck-load of relief goods were being distributed in the affected areas of Chokothi and adjoining localities.
In Neelam Valley, he added, some 5,000 survivors were distributed blankets, quilts, makeshift tents, plastic sheets and food ration. —APP
