KARACHI, Oct 28: Consul General of Sri Lanka M. N. De Silva on Thursday called on Sindh Minister for Excise & Taxation and Coordination Syed Sardar Ahmed at the Sindh Secretariat and presented him two cheques totalling Rs150,000 donated by a Sri Lankan bank and a firm towards the President’s Earthquake Relief Fund.

The envoy was accompanied by Hassan Ali of Hatton National Bank’s Pakistan Representative Office and D. N. Keerthiratne of the Dart Express Ltd. The bank has contributed Rs100,000 and the firm Rs50,000.

Ms De Silva said: “We convey our deepest sorrow to the whole Pakistani nation over the heavy loss of life and massive destruction caused by the quake. Our all team members in Pakistan have also donated blood for quake victims.”

The minister thanked the envoy and appreciated the support extended by Sri Lanka, and said that Pakistan enjoyed friendly relations with her country. He said: “The earthquake was devastating and has caused massive destruction. My party is also working in the affected areas.”—PPI
