KARACHI: City police chief transferred

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Oct. 28: The City Police Chief Tariq Jamil on Friday was transferred and made OSD. A notification issued by the Establishment Division Islamabad, said that Mr Tariq Jamil, a grade 20 PSP officer, has been transferred and directed to report to the Establishment Division and posted as OSD to the Establishment Division at Karachi.

Mr Jamil might relinquish his charge on Saturday or next week, handing over his office to DIG Administration Zafar Ahmed Farooqi, a spokesman for the Sindh police said.

The transfer orders came as surprise to many senior police officers. Mr Jamil was appointed as third CCPO taking charge from Asad Ashraf Malick in June 2004.

Prior to his posting as CCPO Karachi, Tariq Jamil was serving as DIG Operations.

Provincial Police officer Asad Jehangir is due to retire on Dec 25.
