LPC annex CM Rajasthan Cup

LAHORE, Oct 27: Lahore Polo Club (LPC) returned home after winning the Chief Minister Rajasthan Cup polo in Jaipur. LPC four-member side comprising Taimur Mawaz Khan, Shaukat Ali Malik, Sufi Haris and Usman Hayee outplayed the Jaipur Polo and Riding Club in a thrilling encounter by six goals to five in the final.

In the final captain Taimur scored three goals, Haris two and Shuakat one while Satinder Garcha and Ransher Singh struck twice with Vicky Nihalani sharing one goal.

Haris steered the side by hitting all the important goals of the play in the dying stages of the play before both the sides were locked at 4-4.

Meanwhile, President of the LPC, Abdul Hayee Mehta and members of the Executive Committee have hailed the performnace of the young team which beat a superior team in the final.

“Our team which was of seven goal handicap beat eight goal handicap side overcoming different playing conditions of ground and the horses provided them by the hosts.” said Mehta.

Mehta said the Jaipur team would be visiting Lahore Polo Club in December to take part in a international tournament.

“We have reciprocatory ties with the Jaipur club and we will be having frequent tours in near future,” he said adding “such tours will help support the cause of polo in the region and by that way the overall standard of the game will improve.”—APP
