Karachi nazim apprises AJK leaders of relief efforts
KARACHI, Oct 27: Karachi Nazim Mustafa Kamal, during his recent visit to Islamabad and Muzaffarabad with naib nazim candidate Nasreen Jalil, apprised AJK President Sardar Mohammed Anwar and Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat about efforts being made by the city government to help the people affected by the Oct 8 earthquake.
They told the leaders of Azad Kashmir that the city government had sent 22 truckloads of relief goods while more items were being collected and would be dispatched to the affected areas soon.
They said a cheque for Rs26 million had been presented to the prime minister as the city government’s contribution to President’s Earthquake Relief Fund.
The nazim visited the affected areas and various camps with the president and prime minister of Azad Kashmir.
He told the AJK president and prime minister that cooperation of the people of Karachi would continue till the rehabilitation of the affected people.
Mr Kamal also visited the field hospital set up by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in Muzaffarabad, met the injured and expressed his sympathies. MQM leaders and officials of the Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation apprised him of the relief activities being carried out for the victims.—APP
