KARACHI: Action against teachers


KARACHI, Oct 27: On the directives of Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro, EDO Nawabshah has immediately suspended two primary school teachers, Abbas Ali Unar and Imtiaz Ali Mahr on charges of kidnapping a women and their alleged involvement in other subversive activities.

According to an official hand-out issued here on Thursday, a criminal case has already been registered at the Sakrand Police Station by the ADO (Male) Sakrand against the accused.

The minister also ordered the removal of these teachers from service and charge sheet was being issued to them in this regard.

Meanwhile, the EDO (Schools) of the city government, Abdul Wahab Abbasi, on Thursday suspended eight employees of the education department (local bodies) and issued show-cause notices to 23 others for remaining absent from duty.

During a surprise visit to the office of the DO Education (Local Bodies), EDO Schools was informed that there were over 100 employees in the office, of which eight were absent from duties for last many months without any information and permission.

Taking the notice of the irregularity, the EDO immediately ordered suspension of those eight employees and issued show-cause notices to the 23 others.

Mr Abbasi also visited BYJ Girls and Boys Secondary Schools and issued show-cause notices to 20 teachers for remaining absent without permission.

Talking to teachers, he said his surprise visits were aimed at making teachers regular and punctual and said after Eid, he would conduct surprise visits to schools.—PPI
