DADU, Oct 25: A girl from the Pat Gul Mohammad union council has said that some government-backed influential people have dubbed her kari because she was election agent of an ADP candidate during the local body elections.
The girl, Safia, 18, with her father Fateh Mohammad Leghari, reached the DPO office and sought protection.
She told the DPO that she was asleep in her home in Taj Mohammad Doltani village of the Johi taluka when some armed men entered the house and tried to kidnap her.
She said she started screaming and they beat her up severely and tore her clothes.
She said the assailants fled when family members and neighbours arrived.
In her written application to the DPO, the girl has nominated Mohammad Amin Laghari, Mohammad Anwar, Saeed Khan and Khadim Laghari as the accused.
She alleged the armed men wanted to kill her alleging that she was a kari because she had supported ADP candidate in the local body elections.
She said when she went to the Put Gul Mohammad police station to register a case the police refused and demanded Rs10,000.
She said as they refused to pay bribe to the SHO, he started supporting the accused.
She said the accused with the support of police were trying to kill the girl on the pretext of karo-kari.
She demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter and arrest of the accused.
DPO Rukhsar Khuhawar directed the police to conduct an inquiry and report within three days and provide protection to the girl.
SHO BOOKED: A case was registered against SHO Mehar police and in-charge Baledai police post on Tuesday for illegally detaining Asghar Khoso.
The case was registered on the directive of the Sindh High Court, Larkana circuit bench, on the complaint of Asghar Khoso, a resident of Mehar town.
ASI Shams Samejo registered the FIR under section 193, 220 and 343 PPC against SHO Abu Bakar Chandio for illegal detention of Asghar Khoso.
The DPO also suspended the accused police officers including SHO Abu Bakar Chandio and in-charge Baledai police post Rafique Khoso.
The raid commissioner of the Sindh High Court had found Asghar Khoso in wrongful confinement seven days back.
