SUKKUR, Oct 25: An incident of kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl by her school-teacher in Sakrand sparked panic in members of the Hindu community in the town.

Although the girl later returned home, people were scared, and there was little attendance in the town’s schools on Tuesday.

The girl, Amrata Kumari, a student of class-V was kidnapped by teacher Abbas Unnar.

A meeting of the Hindu Panchayat was held in the wake of threats of dire consequences from relatives of the teacher. Mukhi Roop Chand presided over the meeting.

Various social organizations and parents of the girl expressed their concern over the kidnapping and threats.

The girl told newsmen that she never expected such a step from her teacher. She said when the school was off, she and her sister Poona were going home when the teacher forced both of them in a rickshaw. He subjected her to torture and asked to keep quite.

Ms Kumari said after some time, he shifted them to a car and took them to the Nawabshah sessions court where police arrested him and his accomplices and they were freed.
