FAISALABAD, Oct 25: The NAB has formally started proceedings into corruption and misuse of power allegations levelled against former tehsil nazim Mumtaz Ali Cheema.

The NAB provincial headquarters summoned complainants, accused officials of the defunct TMA (City) and former tehsil nazim Mumtaz Ali Cheema on Wednesday (today) so that inquiry proceedings could be accelerated.

It may be mentioned that former TMA councillors Abdul Hafeez Bawa and Sarfraz Ahmed had blamed that the former tehsil nazim had misappropriated over Rs600 million during his tenure.

Complaints have been sent to the NAB with a number of documents on which the inquiry proceedings have been commenced.
