KOHAT, Oct 25: The authorities of the Orakzai Agency on Tuesday released a student of class eight of a Kohat middle school held under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR).

The authorities had jailed 14-year-old Tahir Hussain, of the Mitha Khan middle school along with hundreds of other tribesmen under the said clause of the FCR on dispute over ownership of coal mines going on between the Sheikhan and Kachai tribes.

The students of the school accompanied by a large number of tribesmen residing in the settled area blocked the Kohat-Hangu Road near Kacha Pakha, a border village between Kohat and the Orakzai Agency, for two hours on Monday afternoon in protest against the arrest of their colleague. They had demanded his immediate and unconditional release.

The protesters opened the road after getting an assurance of their colleague’s release.
