KARACHI: Help from Sindh to continue, says Ibad: Quake victims
KARACHI, Oct 25: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad has reiterated that people of Sindh would continue extending support to their brethren in need till rehabilitation of earthquake victims is completed.
“The solidarity expressed by people of Sindh, particularly Karachi, with the people of quake-stricken areas is being lauded by international community,” Ishratul Ibad observed while talking to a delegation of businessmen and industrialists, which called on him here at Governor’s House on Tuesday.
The delegation led by Siraj Qasim Taili assured the governor that business community as well as people would fully support relief and rehabilitation process.
Ishratul Ibad said that joint efforts should keep on for continuity of the sentiments being expressed by people till “the achievement of the mission”.
He stressed the need for coordinated efforts by businessmen, industrialists, philanthropists and general public for achieving the bigger goal of rehabilitation of quake victims and reconstruction of quake-ravaged regions after rescue and relief.
In this regard, the delegation members held a detailed discussion with Dr Ibad to review the steps for providing funds.
The meeting decided that once again Karachi’s leading role in rehabilitation of those rendered homeless would be ensured.
The governor told the delegation that 34 planes and eight trains having 60 bogies each loaded with relief goods besides thousands of truckloads of relief items had been dispatched to the affected areas.
In addition, he said, more than 60 injured of the earthquake are being treated in Karachi’s hospitals. Private hospitals are providing free of cost medicines and treatment and all hospitals were extending support in this regard, he added.—PPI
