KARACHI: Traffic arrangements for Yaum-i-Ali procession
KARACHI, Oct 25: Traffic police have made arrangements on the occasion of Shahadat of Hazrat Ali (AS) falling on 21st of Ramazan on Oct 26. A procession will be taken out at 1pm from Nishtar Park via the following routes and will terminate at about 9pm at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian.
Nishtar Park, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, again M.A. Jinnah Road, Bolton Market, Rampat Rai Road, Nawab Mahabat Khanjee Road to Hussainian Iranian Imambargah.
As soon as the procession will start from Nishtar Park, all traffic coming from the city side will be diverted onto Bahadur Yar Jang Road from the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road/Dr Dawood Pota Road.
All traffic to Bahadur Yar Jang Road from its junction with Dr Dawood Pota Road up to its junction with Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road shall flow one way.
All buses, minibuses and trucks coming from Nazimabad side shall be diverted on to Nishtar Road towards Zoological Garden from Lasbella intersection.
All buses, minibuses and trucks coming from Liaquatabad will be diverted to Martin Road towards jail side. These vehicles shall, however, be permitted to proceed up to jail and then via Jamshed Road up to the junction of Dada Bhoy Noorji Road, Kashmir Road, Sharah-i-Quaideen and proceed up to Gora Qabristan crossing via Sharea Faisal and then via Mubarik Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star Sarwar Shaheed Road, Dr Dawood Pota Road, Preedy Street to normal route.
When the head of the procession reaches the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road and Mansfield Street, these vehicles shall proceed straight from 603 EME Workshop towards Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Fatima Jinnah Road, till the situation permits then these vehicles shall be diverted onto I.I. Chundrigar Road from the junction of Court Road / Moulana Deen Muhammad Wafai Road.
All buses, minibuses and other heavy vehicles approaching from Stadium Road shall proceed via new M.A. Jinnah Road. These vehicles shall be diverted onto Dada Bhoy Noorji Road towards Kashmir Road, from its junction with new M.A. Jinnah Road.
All buses, minibuses and trucks approaching from the Super Highway shall be diverted from Al-Azam Square towards Nazimabad Chowrangi No.2 and shall proceed along Hakim Ibn-i-Sina Road, Estate Avenue Road, Shershah, Mauripur Road. To return, these vehicles shall proceed on the same route.
Similarly, all buses, minibuses and trucks approaching from the National Highway side shall proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Mohammad Suleman Road, Nazimabad Chowrangi No 2, Hakim Ibn-i-Sina Road, Habib Bank Chowk, Estate Avenue Road, Shershah, Mauripur Road. To return, these vehicles shall adopt the same route.
The car traffic shall not be permitted to proceed towards the route of the procession from Guru Mandar roundabout. These vehicles shall be diverted onto Bahadur Yar Jang Road again onto Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road and shall proceed via Nishtar Road.
Under no circumstances, these vehicles shall be permitted to proceed along Bahadur Yar Jang Road from the junction of Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road.
All cars coming from Quaid-i-Azam Mazar side along M.A. Jinnah Road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road. No vehicular traffic shall be permitted to proceed towards Purani Numaish under any circumstances.
All vehicular traffic approaching Purani Numaish via Shahra-i-Quaideen (except those participating in the procession having stickers pasted on their windscreens issued from traffic police office) shall not be permitted to proceed from the roundabout behind Quaid-i-Azam Mazar towards Numaish.
All traffic going towards Saddar and other colonies shall not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market from the junctions of:-
Preedy Street/ Sarmad Road; Preedy Street/ M.A. Jinnah Road; Shahrah-i-Liaquat/ Court Road; and Shahrah-i-Liaquat/ Mohammed Bin Qasim Road, when the procession reaches near the crossing of M.A. Jinnah Road/Mansfield Street.
Similarly, all vehicular traffic proceeding towards Saddar via Jinnah Road shall not be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Streetk, Aga Khan Road and Mansfield Street.
No vehicles shall be permitted to proceed towards M.A. Jinnah Road from its junction with Preedy Street until the procession clears the intersection.
The vehicular traffic on Aga Khan Road from Zoological Garden shall be permitted to proceed towards M.A. Jinnah Road, Aga Khan Road, Randle Road (Near Ankle-Saria Hospital). The stretch of the road shall flow one-way and shall not be permitted to contravene one-way.
The stretch of the road between the junctions of Nawab Mahabat Khanjee Road, Sheedi Village Road, Aga Khan Road and Delumel Chela Ram Road will be out of bound to all public conveyance (i.e. trucks, buses, minibuses and motorcycles, and rickshaws).
No vehicle shall be permitted to park along the route of the procession.
STICKERS: Traffic police announced on Monday that the vehicles, taking part in mourning procession on Yaum-i-Ali falling on Oct 26, should get their security stickers by Oct 25.
According to a notification of traffic police, the vehicle owners have been asked to obtain the stickers by submitting their vehicle registration book, driving licence and a photocopy of NIC to In-charge Traffic Security Branch, Central Police Office, I.I. Chundrigar Road, by Oct 25.
The vehicles having no stickers would not be allowed to participate in the procession.—APP/PPI
