Soldier killed, 11 hurt in blast

WANA, Oct 24: A Pakistani soldier was killed and 11 were wounded on Monday when a bomb blast hit their truck in a tribal area near the Afghan border, an official said. The afternoon attack took place near Laddah fort, 40km northeast of South Waziristan’s main town of Wana.

“One paramilitary soldier was killed and 11 were injured, nine of them seriously, when a remote-controlled bomb exploded near their moving truck,” the official said.

Meanwhile, officials arrested an Afghan refugee on suspicion of planning to attack madressahs in Miranshah, a tribal administration official told AFP.
