Nishtar doctors donate Rs13m

MULTAN, Oct 24: Doctors of the Nishtar Medical College and Hospital have so far contributed Rs13 million in the shape of medicines, edibles and warm clothes to help earthquake-hit people.

The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has contributed relief goods worth Rs4 million, said its Multan chapter secretary-general Dr Shahid Rao here on Monday.

NMC&H principal Prof Dr Shabbir Ahmed Nasir said the management had given relief goods, including medicines and other requisite items worth Rs4 million.

Labbaek, another doctors’ organization, had contributed medicines, tents, blankets and warm clothes valuing Rs5 million, its chief organizer Dr Durre Sabih said.

Teams of Nishtar Hospital, the PMA and Multan Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy (Minar) are serving the ailing and injured victims in quake-hit areas of Mansehra and Battagram.

Dr Shahid Rao said that a PMA’s 10-member medical team was working in Ugi and Shankiari villages of Mansehra.

They were also distributing relief goods with the help of the Frontier Constabulary among the quake-affected people, he said.—APP
