PESHAWAR, Oct 24: A Mohmand tribesman kidnapped on August 12 was released by his captors in the remote Terrah valley of Khyber Agency, said a senior official on Monday.

The tribesman, Nadir Khan, told newsmen at a press conference at the political administrator’s office here that he had been kidnapped from the Kohat Road on August 12 by eight men.

He said: “I was moved from one place to another in the tribal area and finally taken to the Mushti Mela area of Terrah Valley in the Khyber Agency.”

He said that the kidnappers, three of whom were identified as Gul Tanay, Hashmat and Munawar, all Shalobar Qamberkhel tribesmen of Khyber Agency, were demanding Rs3 million as ransom from his family in Peshawar.

He denied having that much money and said that he was working as an accountant with a trader and could not pay even a single paisa.

He claimed that on Sunday night, the kidnappers released him unconditionally.

Riaz Mehsud, assistant political agent in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency, said that the government put pressure on the kidnappers and forced them to release the abducted person without getting any ransom.

The APA added that the administration with the cooperation of Zakhakhel tribesmen located the whereabouts of Nadir Khan and finally arrested five of the accused.
