Half of quake survivors still without aid: JI

By A Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 23: A Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) leader from Sindh on Sunday said more than half of the earthquake survivors in Azad Kashmir had yet not received any aid.

Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) deputy parliamentary leader in Sindh provincial assembly Nasrullah Shajieh told a news conference that many aspects of relief operation, such as distribution, needed to be improved.

He voiced his concern over the government’s media campaign which gave an impression that the relief operation was being handled well. He said this would have a negative effect on the relief efforts in the country.

Mr Shajieh, who was in Azad Kashmir to coordinate and supervise relief work on behalf of Jamaat-i-Islami, said he had called the news conference to correct the negative impression created by the government which could slow down further relief measures.
