Services of 322 PR employees terminated

ISLAMABAD, Oct 23: The management of Pakistan Railways (PR) terminated the services of its 322 employees in the last one year due to various reasons, including embezzlement of funds, an official document reveals.

It shows that out of 322 employees, 176 belonged to the Punjab, 55 to Balochistan, 54 to Sindh and 37 to the NWFP. A total of 67 police personnel from all over the country had also been sacked for failing to qualify mandatory training.

Out of the terminated employees from the Punjab, 37 were posted in Rawalpindi, 17 in Lahore, 84 in Mughalpura Workshop and 10 in Multan. The services of 143 PR employees in the province were terminated due to “unauthorized absence” while five workers were sacked for committing “embezzlement” and due to “inefficiency.”

In NWFP, the services of 36 employees had been terminated due to “unauthorized absence” while one worker in Peshawar had been sacked for embezzling funds.

In Sindh, 33 workers had been sent home for not joining their duties in Karachi and Sukkur after a long time while two employees were sacked for committing embezzlement.

Similarly, the document shows that 29 Pakistan Railways employees had been sent home for “unauthorized absence” in Quetta (Balochistan).—Staff Reporter
