Wickets tumble like ninepins
RAWALPINDI, Oct 22: Fast bowlers played havoc on a helping track as 16 wickets fell on the opening day of Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League match between Rawalpindi and Karachi Urban at the KRL Stadium on Saturday.
Sent in to bat, Karachi Urban tumbled for 140 but then recovered to cut down the hosts’ first innings reply to 137 for six.
Left-armer Sohail Tanvir and his right-arm new-ball partner Rizwan Akbar demolished the Karachi innings, sharing equal number of wickets.
Left-arm paceman Nasir Khan was the destroyer-in-chief in Rawalpindi first innings with his five for 53 as Naveed Qureshi hit the top score of 67 off 78 balls with 11 hits to the fence.
