Attack on Ponam chief’s house criticized

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Oct 22: Leaders of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations’ Movement (Ponam) have condemned the attack on the house of Ponam chief Sardar Ataullah Mengal and dubbed it an attempt to involve prominent political personalities in tribal rivalries.

They said that certain elements were out to stoke tribal feuds in Balochistan and following the “divide and rule” method. They alleged that usurpers were busy looting resources of the province and were time and again hatching conspiracies against those who they felt were hurdles in their way.

Provincial leaders and activists of Ponam, BSO and PSO had assembled outside the press club on Saturday and they chanted slogans against state terrorism, federal and provincial governments and intelligence agencies. They denounced the plan to establish new cantonments and criticized political victimization.
