KARACHI, Oct 21: The district officer culture of the city government, Saifur Rehman Grami, went on retirement after reaching the age of superannuation. Mr Grami started his journalistic career from an English Daily The Sun in 1970. He served as a public relations officer in the Sindh government from 1974 to 1979 and worked as assistant director information from 1979-83.
Later, he was appointed director information in the defunct KMC in 1984 and appointed as director social welfare and culture in 1990 and entrusted with additional responsibilities of sports promotion and activities and remained the district officer culture and sports since the establishment of the city government in 2001.
During his service in the defunct KMC and the city government, Mr Grami not only rendered services towards the promotion of educational, literary, cultural and sports activities, but also strived for peace and unity and against social evils.
He worked for the promotion of art and culture at the Sadequain Gallery which was established in the memory of Sadequain.—APP
