KARACHI, Oct 21: Three persons died in separate road accidents in different parts of the city Friday. Haji Abdullah, 70, was returning home after offering Juma prayers when he was hit by a vehicle near Dawood Chowrangi in Landhi. The victim was a resident of Future Colony. Police said that the victim died on the spot. His body was taken to JPMC for legal formalities.
Niaz Mohammad, 75, died in a hit and run accident on Mauripur Road.
Police said that the victim was a resident of Mohammadi Colony. His son Hasan had lodged an FIR against unknown persons at the Kalri police station.
In another accident, Shabir Ahmed, 70, was crushed to death beneath a locomotive while crossing tracks beneath the Kalapul Bridge. The victim was a resident of Moosa Colony. Police shifted the body to JPMC for legal formalities.
KIDNAPPED: Two persons were kidnapped by unknown persons in Garden area Wednesday night.
Mohammad, father of Mohammad Ali, informed the police early Friday morning that his son and his friend Mohammad Husain had gone to work at 12 noon on Wednesday at their mobile repairing shop in Electronics Market, but did not return.
When the family stated a search for them, area people told them that the motorcycle of Mohammad Ali had been parked at Shaheen Street in Ramsawani area.
Area people also informed that four men carrying weapons had kidnapped Mohammad Ali and Mohammad Husain, according to area ASP.
Subsequently, an FIR 118/2005 was lodged at the Garden police station. The ASP said so far no ransom call has been received and the police are investigating the matter.
HASISH: Police seized 675kgs of fine quality hashish in two different raids in the city early Friday morning and arrested four suspects.
A seizure of 586 kg hasish was made by the Sachal police station, off Super highway near New Sabzimandi. SHO Sachal said during routine patrolling a police team noticed a truck unloading cargo. When the mobile moved towards the truck, people engaged in unloading cargo fled opening fire at the police party.
When the police searched the cargo, they found hashish and apple cartons. In initial search, some 30 to 40 cartons of hashish were uncovered.
The truck (LSB-3041), with its cargo, was seized by the police and a case was registered at the Sachal police station.
In another seizure, police recovered 89kgs of fine quality hashish from secret cavities of a passenger bus which had arrived from Sawat in Site Town early Friday morning.
Police arrested four suspects, Noor Mohammad, Naseemullah, Farooq and Sherzada. However, their ring leader identified as Subhan Gul alias Haji Malakand is absconding.
