ISLAMABAD, Oct 19: Raheel Majeed and Ashar Zaidi scored half-centuries as Islamabad thrashed Abbottabad by nine wickets in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League match on Wednesday.
Having bowled out Abbottabad for a meagre 183 on the last day, Islamabad were home in 22.3 overs for the loss of only one wicket and picked up six points from the game. Both teams had forfeited their first innings in order to get a result after the first two days of the match were washed out.
Raheel (52 not out) and Ashar Zaidi (63) shared a 101-run stand for the opening wicket. Bilal Asad also shone with the bat, cracking an unbeaten 44.
Earlier, Abbottabad resuming their innings at the overnight 91-5 were restricted by five-wicket Saad Altaf.
Ali Naqvi was a stand out with an unbeaten 111 but his batting heroics went in vain.
