Shabbir named in probables camp

LAHORE, Oct 19: Shabbir Ahmed, the lanky medium-pacer has been included in the list of 25 probables, called by the national selection committee for the conditioning camp, starting from Friday.

The camp which will conclude on Nov 2 is being established as part of preparations for the home series against England, starting with the first Test commencing at Multan from Nov 12.

Shabbir was recently cleared by the ICC for suspect bowling action for the third time.

Interestingly, the third trial match in Lahore from Oct 26 to 29, as part of the team selection is also scheduled to be played at the same time as the dates of the‘ conditioning camp.

Almost the same players, who have been selected for the camp, are to play in the trail match.

Only Shabbir is not included in any of the two teams announced for the trial match, because the bowler had not been cleared by the ICC when the squads were announced.

Leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, who is struggling to get back into the team and injury-prone Shoaib Akhtar along with Inzamamul Haq, Mohammad Yousaf (formerly Yousuf Youhana), Younis Khan are the other prominent players to join the conditioning camp.

Probables: Inzamamul Haq, Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik, Younis Khan, Muhammad Yousaf, Hasan Raza, Abdul Razzaq, Kamran Akmal, Danish Kaneria, Umar Gul, Muhammad Sami, Rana Naved-ul-hasan, Shabbir Ahmed, Shoaib Akhtar, Muhammad Asif, Imran Tahir, Mushtaq Ahmed, Asim Kamal, Shahid Afridi, Bazid Khan, Shahid Nazir, Faisal Iqbal, Mansoor Amjad, Imran Farhat, Arshad Khan.
