GUJRAT, Oct 19: Two persons, one of them an under-trial captive, were shot dead in two incidents in and around the city during the last 36 hours. Police had escorted Allah Dita Jogi from the district jail to a civil court in Gujrat for hearing in a dacoity-cum-murder case. As he reached the doorstep of the court, his rival Asif opened fire on him killing him on the spot.

The police chased the fleeing accused and caught him. The Civil Lines police have registered a case.

The second incident took place in Khokhran locality of Jalalpur Jattan where youth Shahzad was shot dead by some unidentified assailants.

The motive behind the killing could not be confirmed immediately. The Jalalpur Jattan city police are looking into the matter.

CASE: District and Sessions Judge Ali Hassan Rizvi has ordered registration of a case against a sub-inspector following recovery of a man from the illegal confinement of the Civil Lines police, it is learnt on Wednesday.

Hafiz Ataur Rehman of Mew Wal had filed a petition in court, alleging that SI Muhammad Aslam had illegally detained his uncle Asghar in the lock-up.
