ISLAMABAD, Oct 19: A 24-member delegation of the International Islamic University’s employees visited, Batal one of the most affected areas in district Mansehra. They distributed relief goods among the victims of the earthquake.
Mahmood Ahmad Farooqi, Director, Protocol and Public Relations, Khurshid Alam, Director Finance and many other officials of the University visited the area and stayed their for one day, distributed tents blankets, edibles and medicine among the survivors. One of the objectives of the relief mission was to enquire about the miseries of the university’s employees who live in Batal area.
FJWU: Students and faculty members of Fatima Jinnah Women University will join hands with Army Aviation Headquarters, Rawalpindi, to coordinate the earthquake relief efforts.
This decision was taken in a meeting held between the FJWU faculty members and army officials.
HAMDARD VARSITY: Hamdard University has dispatched another team of surgeons, physicians, para-medical staff and volunteer students to Mansehra District to supplement the medical team working at FG Degree College Dohara field hospital, said a press release.
SPO: Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) has mobilized and distributed cash-donations, food items, tents, medicines and other essential goods worth Rs10 million in the affected areas during the last seven days.
Relief Fund: To mobilize cash donations, SPO has created a relief fund where donations are pouring in from all parts of the world.
SPO is making efforts to provide immediate and quality medical care to the people of Muzaffarabad. Soon after the disaster, SPO negotiated with an NGO ‘Concern for Children’. Within days, to open a medical facility in Muzaffarabad.
According to the understanding, a team of 10-15 professional doctors, paramedics and volunteers including mountain climbers would establish a medical camp in Garhi Dupatta near Muzaffarabad with latest equipment, and treatment facilities. SPO would identify the area in most need and facilitate in making logistical arrangements.
A large quantity of medicines and relief supplies would also be distributed from the camp. SPO is arranging to utilize this camp as distribution point for tents, blankets and warm cloths to the people.
SPO Quetta staff contributed Rs42,000 whereas the 10 Civil Society Networks agreed to contribute one month’s institutional support in this regard which amounted to Rs36,700. SPO Quetta also contributed a vehicle, which carried the relief goods including 130 blankets, clothes, shoes, medicines and cash Rs28,080. SPO Quetta staff members also collected a truckload of relief goods through mobilization of political/student organizations, local communities and other segments of society, which has already been dispatched to Kashmir.
SCF: The Senior Citizens Foundation of Pakistan headed by Mahmud Ali, veteran leader of Pakistan Movement has established relief and rehabilitation fund for the earthquake victims.
The Foundation has appealed to the citizens especially the elderly people to send their contributions to the Account No 2876 at Allied Bank Limited, Sitara Market, G-7 Markaz, Islamabad.
The contribution can also be delivered at the Foundation Headquarters in Plaza No5-P, Sitara Market.
CBR: The Earthquake Relief Cell of Central Board of Revenue has dispatched four more trucks carrying relief goods to the affected areas. The relief goods include blankets, tents, medicines, woolen shawls, plastic mats, coffin cloth and food items.
Earlier, CBR Relief Cell had distributed 32 truck-load of relief goods among the affectees in the quake-hit areas of NWFP and Azad Kashmir.
