KARACHI, Oct 19: The additional district and sessions judge, South, Ms Farzana Iqbal, ordered on Wednesday registration of case against former station house officer of Kalakot and an assistant sub-inspector for implicating a young man in a false case.
The judge issued the orders on an application by Ms Rabia, a resident of Kalakot, who submitted before the court that the former SHO, Inspector Nawaz Chatta, and ASI Imdad Khoso had booked her son Tariq in a false case of possession of unlicensed pistol.
She stated before the court that the police raided and ransacked her house and looted Rs25,000 before taking away her son.
She stated that the police demanded another Rs25,000 from her for the release of her son and they booked him in the case when she did not fulfill their demand.
The judge ordered the Kalakot police to register an FIR against the two police officials for trespassing the victim’s house, robbery and misuse of authority.
IMTIAZ SHAIKH: ,/B>The provincial anti-corruption court, headed by Judge Arjun Ram Tarleeja, ordered the defence counsel of the sacked provincial minister Imtiaz Shaikh to ensure appearance of his client on the next date of hearing.
Imtiaz Shaikh and his brother Maqbool Shaikh were booked for getting 1,600 acres in Scheme-33 in Malir allotted in their names through forged documents. Both of them have obtained bail before arrest from the high court.
The defence counsel submitted that Imtiaz Shaikh could not come to attend the court as he was engaged in relief activities for earthquake victims.
convoy attack CASE: A witness, who had identified five attackers of corps commander’s convoy in an identification parade before a magistrate, on Wednesday could not identify them before an Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi during testimony, PPI adds.
The ATC, headed by Judge Feroz Mehmood Bhatti, was conducting trial against 11 activists of the Jundullah for allegedly attacking the motorcade of the then Corps Commander Karachi in June last year.
Traffic police constable Ghulam Farooq, who was on duty near Clifton bridge, said he saw three persons in a Suzuki hi-roof (9255) before the attack on convoy of corps commander.
He had identified Ataur Rehman, Yaqoob, Danish, Rao Khalid and Adnan before the magistrate who had conducted three identification parades at the judicial complex on June 22, August 22 and Oct 20, 2004. The witness, however, failed to identify them in testimony.
ATC Judge Feroz Mehmood Bhatti, after examination of witnesses fixed Oct 26 for the next hearing.
Ataur Rehman, Shahzad Bajwa, Danish Imam, Rao Khalid, Khurrum Saifullah, Mohammad Shoaib, Adnan Shah, Mohammad Uzair, Yaqoob Saeed, Najeebullah and Shahzad Mukhtar are charged with attacking on the motorcade of the then Corps Commander Lt-Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat on June 10, 2004, in Clifton.
