KARACHI: Robbers loot Rs1m, 45 phones in 47 incidents

KARACHI, Oct 19: At least 47 incidents of robberies and thefts took place in various localities in the city on Wednesday. A transporter, Ibrahim Niazi, was deprived of Rs1 million by four bandits near a bank branch. He went to the Boating Basin police station and got an FIR (381/05) registered.

He told the police that he took Rs1 million to deposit it to his bank account. As he reached the bank branch in Clifton, four armed men in a car intercepted him and made off with the cash.

Khurram Mehmood bought a computer set and as he was going home, he was intercepted by two armed men near the Capri cinema on M.A. Jinnah Road. The men seized the computer set from him at gunpoint and fled. He reported the matter to the police.

Meanwhile, the officials in the Capital City Police Office confirmed that incidents of snatching and theft of 45 cellphones were reported on Wednesday.

They said 22 people were deprived of their cellphones at gunpoint in various localities here while the mobile phones of other 23 people were reported stolen. Two cellphones were reported missing.
