PESHAWAR, Oct 17: Six people were killed in a landslide near Balakot, an army official said. The landslide was triggered by aftershocks that continued throughout the day on Monday.
The army official, who looks after relief and rescue operation in Balakot, told Dawn on phone from the devastated area that the incident occurred late into the evening on Sunday. Rescue teams were dispatched to the area to retrieve the bodies on Monday morning.
The official said that the aftershocks continued to jolt Balakot throughout the day on Monday.
He said that according to Chinese geologists working in the area it would take a couple of decades for the earth to settle down and the landslide to stop.—Bureau Report
