LAHORE, Oct 17: The District Regional Transport Authority on Monday fixed maximum fares of trucks for transportation of relief goods from Lahore to the earthquake affected areas.
According to a notification issued by the DRTA secretary, trucks carrying relief goods to Rawalpindi/Islamabad and Garhi Habibullah/Balakot will charge Rs5,000 and Rs12,000, respectively, while Mazda/mini trucks will charge Rs4,000 and Rs10,000, respectively.
Truck fare for carrying goods to Mansehra, Muzaffarabad and Bagh will be Rs11,000, Rs14,000 and Rs15,000, respectively, while Mazda/mini truck drivers will charge Rs9,000, Rs12,000 and Rs14,000, respectively.
The DRTA secretary directed the truck owners to charge only prescribed fares for transportation of relief goods to areas stricken by earthquake. He said strict action would be taken against the drivers demanding excessive fares.
