MULTAN, Oct 17: The railways police claimed on Monday to have tracked down the bandits who had robbed the passengers of Karachi-bound Tezgam near Sahiwal last month.

SSP Ahmad Mukhtar Khan told journalists that three outlaws had been apprehended in connection with the robbery took place on Sept 16. Some outlaws had held the AC compartments passengers at gunpoint and deprived them of their belongings.

He said the police had also recovered all the looted items.

He said the robbers were travelling in one of the compartments booked in the name of Arshad.

The SSP said he had constituted two teams on the direction of the railways police IG to track down the robbers.

The man was first searched against whose name was the compartment booked in which the outlaws were travelling.

However, he told the investigators that his national identity card had lost sometimes back and he had duly reported the matter to the police.

He said the culprits were however pinned down and were identified by the victims. But, the SSP did not disclose their identity saying this would affect the ongoing investigations into the incidents of train robberies.
