Match-winning knock by Nasir

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 16: Nasir Aziz hammered a match-winning half-century as M. Text Sports defeated Malir Gymkhana by two wickets in the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan Twenty20 Cup at the AKG Ground on Sunday.

Nasir made an unbeaten 53 with seven boundaries as M. Tex Sports overhauled Malir Gymkhana’s moderate total of 109 with eight balls to spare.

At one stage, victory looked beyond M. Tex as they lost five wickets for 43 runs but Nasir then found a useful partner in Yousuf Mundia who helped him add 61 precious runs.

Paceman Mohammad Hasnain grabbed three for 14.

Meanwhile, the organizers have announced Rs216,500 as prize-money for the current tournament. The winners will get Rs100,000 with half of that amount going to the runners-up while the beaten semifinals will receive Rs7,500 each. Besides man-of-the-match awards, the best bowler, batsman and wicket-keeper will get Rs5,000 each.
