No play in Islamabad fixture

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 16: The first day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League match between Islamabad and Abbottabad at the Diamond Cricket Ground was washed out on Sunday.

Rain that hit Islamabad on Saturday night continued for a good part of Sunday making it almost impossible for play to begin.

Water is said to have seeped through the covers at the ground staging its first ever first-class match after being upgraded in the summer.

Umpires Mian Mohammad Aslam and Ahmed Shahab declared at 10.50am that there would be no play because of the saturated conditions of the outfield.

Chances of the match getting under way on Monday also appear quite slim.
