Khush Nazar registers second win in a row
KARACHI, Oct 16: Taking advantage of the absence of fancied two-year-old colt, Moj-e-Arab, filly, Queen Of Mirwa, came up with flying colours in the Winter Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Drawn in the second race of afternoon alongside 11 contenders the filly won by one-and-a-half length. She was placed third in the last meeting.
Moj-e-Arab had to be withdrawn by its owner at the eleventh hour following temperature.
Moon Raker and Mir Sab, both two-year-old colts, settled for second and third positions, respectively.
Luck was on the side of Mr. Irfan Mehdi, owner of Queen Of Mirwa, as he had another winner in the four-year-old filly, Princess Hira, in the fourth race. Ridden by jockey Saif Muhammad she won convincingly by six lengths.
Trainer Allah Judrio was jubilant as he also had a hand in the above two triumphs in addition to three-year-old filly, Voo Doo Doll, who sprinted home in the sixth race.
Ten-year-old mare, Khush Nazar, lived up to her reputation when she made it two in a row in the opener.
Haji Khuda Bux Rajar’s four-year-old filly, Smiling Face, was piloted home by jockey Abdul Aziz leaving chestnut, Cool Water and bay colt, Azam The Great behind to settle for the places in the third race.
Chestnut, Scarface, owned by Syed Hashim Abbas, denied Order Of The Day to register second consecutive win. Ridden magnificently by Asghar Ali he won by a margin of seven length.
Order Of The Day had to be content with second place while filly, Bright And Early, was placed third.
Blue Breeze, a four-year-old colt, picked up spoils in the concluding race which had eleven contenders in fray. Arab-Hi-Arab and Butter Fly occupied the remaining two places.
The next Winter Gymkhana race meeting will be held on Oct 23.
