Over 100,000 apply for 200 Hesco jobs

DADU, Oct 16: Over 100,000 candidates who had applied for different posts in Hesco for about 200 vacancies of ALM, LM, meter readers and other posts are waiting for jobs.

The candidates had appeared in the written and oral tests in March 2005 and June 2005.

Sources in Hesco said that two close relatives of a deputy director were appointed as meter reader and ALM, respectively.

In another case, a son of a senior clerk of recruitment section, was also appointed as ALM.

TRANSFER: A senior officer of the Hyderabad Electric Corporation has been transferred while promotion order of another officer was issued on Sunday, which is a gazetted holiday.

The manager of human resources, Hesco Hyderabad, Zafar Iqbal Awan, with approval of the Hesco chief executive, Maqbool Ahmed Khawaja, has transferred Abdul Majeed Ansari and posted him as superintendent engineer, Nawabshah.

The superintendent engineer Nawabshah circle, Ghulam Hussain Kolachi, was promoted as the chief engineer and was transferred to Wapda, Lahore.

Hesco chief executive Maqbool Ahmed Khawaja told Dawn that the superintending engineer Nawabshah, Ghulam Hussain Kolachi was promoted by Wapda authorities Lahore hence he had been relieved and another officer was posted in his place.

About appointment of employees, he said the advertisement of vacancies were published and the process was completed before his taking over as the Hesco chief.

PROTEST: A large number of Hesco employees, Dadu division, staged a demons-

tration outside the local press club on Sunday to protest against the SDO Hesco, Mehar, for victimizing the low grade employees.

They were led by the provincial chairman Paigham Union, Usman Junejo, Masroor Ahmed Qureshi, Ashok Kumar, Zamir Ahmed Siyal and Gul Mohammad Kumbhar.

The leaders said the SDO Hesco, Mehar, was posted on political grounds and demanded his transfer.
