Haqqee laid to rest

TORONTO, Oct 15: Poet and scholar Shanul Haq Haqqee was laid to rest on Friday in Glen Oakes cemetery in Mississauga, 25km west of Toronto. His funeral prayer was offered at the complex of the Islamic Society of North America after Friday prayers. A number of people, including Mr Haqqee’s four sons –- Imran, Irfan, Adnan and Shayan, — relatives, family friends and local Urdu poets and writers attended the funeral. Later his soyem was held at Isna mosque. Mr Haqqee died of lung cancer on Tuesday.—Correspondent
