Mandi carnage: SHO suspended

MANDI BAHAUDDIN, Oct 15: District Police Officer Waqar Haider has suspended Saddar police station SHO Muhammad Arif Baga from service, it is learnt on Saturday. Sources said the SHO had failed to make any progress in the recent carnage investigation. Eight members of Ahmadi sect were shot dead at their worship place on Sept 30. Inspector Sajjad Rashid has been posted the Saddar SHO.

Meanwhile, the DPO has also ordered posting of Inspector Malik Adnan as the anti-terrorism cell in-charge.

NAZIM: Earthquake is a national tragedy which is being mourned over by every Pakistani and all efforts should be diverted to make maximum possible contributions to the relief funds.

This was stated by newly-elected district nazim Riaz Asghar Chaudhry at a crowded press conference on Saturday. DCO Abdus Sattar Sheikh, tehsil nazim Haji Imtiaz Ahmad and PML city president Rana Muhammad Sarfraz were also present.

The nazim said 15 trucks carrying relief goods were leaving for Muzaffarabad from the district, and urged the general public to provide more assistance to the quake-affected brethren.

The participants offered prayers for the departed souls.

DOCTORS’ PLEA: The local chapter of the Pakistan Medical Association met here on Saturday.

Its president Dr Tariq Mahmood Chaddhar chaired the meeting and urged the police to arrest the robbers who had struck in the house of their colleague.
