HYDERABAD, Oct 15: A ten member volunteer group of teachers and students of the Sindh University, Jamshoro, left for the earthquake affected areas to take part in the relief activities. The team also took relief goods for the victims. COLLEGE: Principal of the Government Nazareth Girls College, Hyderabad, Professor Aftab Ahsan Qureshi handed over a cheque of Rs110,600 to Hyderabad DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed on behalf of students and staff members of the college.

Professor Abdul Majeed Hur and Hyderabad EDO (Education) were also present on the occasion. SAU: Employees of the Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam, have donated one day salary in the president’s relief fund for the earthquake victims.

RELIEF GOODS: Relief goods worth Rs70 million have been sent by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Hyderabad zone, to earthquake-stricken areas in the northern Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

Giving details of the relief goods at the Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation office, MQM’s zonal in-charge Siraj Rajput said six bogies were sent to quake-hit areas and more donations and goods were being collected at ten camps set up in the city.

KKF in-charge Syed Afzal Shah, Aminuddin, City Taluka Nazim-elect Javed Jabbar and Latifabad Taluka Nazim-elect Sabir Qaimkhani were also present on the occasion.

He said relief goods so far sent included 35,700 blankets, 3,500 pillows, 12,900 packets of 10 kilogram flour each, 2,650 bags of flour, 5,500 bags of rice, 1,200 bags of dehydrated sugar, 750 bags of gram, 2,190 packets of sugar, 3,800 cartons of tea, 10,000 packets of bun, 6,000 cartons of milk, 900 cartons of juice, 8,000 packets of other edibles, 1,120 spades, 12,000 meters coffin cloth, 1,500 cotton rolls of white cotton, 3,700 tents, 4,900 beddings, 3,300 bags of pulses, 3,800 tins of ghee and 1,500 packets of biscuits.

He said that these goods had been collected at camps and cash donations given by people and had been utilized for purchasing different necessary items.
