KARACHI: PTV caravan sets off for aid collection


KARACHI, Oct 15: The PTV’s ‘Caravan-i-Muhabbat’ train left Karachi for Rawalpindi on Saturday morning on a mission to collect relief goods from people along its route.

PTV artists and film stars are travelling by the train which will stop at specified stations to collect relief goods to be taken along and offloaded at the train’s destination for onward distribution among quake-hit people of various areas.

CONTRIBUTIONS: The Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation has extended a donation of medicines worth Rs2.5 million for earthquake victims.

The Pakistan Telecommuni-cation Lions Unity Union, at its meeting at CTO Compound on Saturday, announced a donation of one-day salary by workers to the President’s relief fund.

STUDENTS: Students of the Sindh Madressatul Islam, Karachi, have collected relief goods worth Rs100,000 for the quake victims.

The relief goods included medicines, food, clothing, mineral water, cooking oil, etc.

A group of Pakistani students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, have launched a fund-raising drive for the quake victims in Pakistan.

A message received here on Saturday said that in the first two days alone, they have raised over $6,000 cash donations. The have also been collecting relief goods.—APP/PPI
