Abid’s hundred puts LR on top

LAHORE, Oct 14: Fine century by opener Abid Ali enabled Lahore Ravi (LR) to gain 105-run lead on the first innings against Abbottabad in the National Inter-region cricket championship under-19 at the Lahore Country Club, Muridke on Friday.

Abid scored 103 off 170 balls as LR piled up 317 for five wickets declared after resuming the innings at 37 for no loss while replying to Abbottabad’s first innings total of 212.

Abid cracked eight boundaries and he received able support from unbeaten Saadullah Ghauri, who scored 56 off 73 balls with seven boundaries.

By the close of play, Abbotabad were 17 for one in the second knock. Five wickets by leg-spinner Nayyar Abbas for 57 runs helped Sialkot earn 10-run lead on the first innings against Rawalpindi at the Saga Ground, Sialkot.

Replying to Sialkot first innings total of 291, Rawalpindi were all out 281 in 74.1 overs, despite some good efforts from top-scorer Zahid Mansoor (66, seven fours, one six) and Asad Zahid (52, four fours).

At the stumps, Sialkot were 10 for one in the second innings.

In a low-scoring match, Faisalabad took two-run lead against Multan at the Bohranwali Ground, Faisalabad.

Faisalabad resumed the first innings at 112 for four and were all out for 163, due to fiery bowling by Muhammad Zahir (5-36). In reply, Multan were bundled out for 161, despite a fighting knock by opener Aqeel Anwar (53, eight fours).

Off-spinner Muhammad Laiq spun out four wickets for 40 runs.

ABBOTABAD (1st innings): 212, 69 overs (Mudassar Ibrahim 62, Riaz Kail 54, Qazi Adnanul Haq 48; Jamshed Ahmed 5-62, Rohail Younis 4-26); 2nd innings 17 for no loss.

LAHORE RAVI (1st innings, overnight 37 for no loss) 317 for five wickets dec (Abid Ali 103, Saadaullah Ghouri 56).

SIALKOT (1st innings): 291,82 overs (Ali Khan 62, Usman Mushtaq 66, Nayyer Abbas 61; Akhtar Ayub 3-72; Haseeb Amjad 3- 81). 2nd innings 10 for one.

RAWALPINDI 281, 76.1 overs(Zahid Mansoor 66, Asad Zahid 52; Nayyar Abbas 5-67).

FAISALABAD (1st innings, overnight 112 for four) 163, 56.3 overs (Muhammad Zahir 5-36); 2nd innings 19 for no loss.

MULTAN (1st innings): 161, 53 overs (Aqeel Anwar 53; Muhammad Laiq 4-40, Muhammad Shahbaz 3-30).
