Two infants burnt alive in Sahiwal

SAHIWAL, Oct 14: Two infants were burnt alive when a cottage caught fire near Chak Thatha Nijabat on Thursday. Labourer Noor Bakhsh and his wife Sakeena were working in a crop field when the latter saw her cottage engulfed by a fire. She rushed to save their children — Faqir Muhammad (3) and Munir Ahmed (1), but she received burn wounds and could not rescue her wards. She was admitted to the local DHQ Hospital.

Masked bandits entered the house of Mian Abdul Sattar and held the inmates hostage. Later, they locked Rashid, Khalid and their mother in a room, collected Rs50,000 in cash, ornaments and two cell phones and escaped.

Fateh Sher police have registered a case.

GRANT: The Punjab government has released Rs211 million grant for livestock and dairy development pilot projects in four model districts of Punjab.

With this grant, 13 hospitals and as many mobile dispensaries would be established each at the tehsil level. More livestock farms would be set up in Sahiwal, Okara, Jhang and Muzaffargarh districts. The DCOs concerned have already been given necessary instructions in this regard.
